Job Change
After teaching second grade for 14 straight school years, I will have a new position at Bremen Public Schools for the 2009-10 school year.
At Tuesday's school board meeting I was approved to be the Differentiation Integration Technology Coach. . . a technology coach. My job description has a long list of responsibilities, but in brief my new role will center on training teachers in the use of various aspects of technology and assisting them on using technology in their classrooms in ways that are the most effective.
I have definitely enjoyed the 14 years I have spent teaching second grade, but I am ready for a new challenge. I think the technology coaching position sounds perfect for me. I think it is a job I will be good at and enjoy. I feel blessed to have this new opportunity.
14 Years, starting in 1995 . . .

Except for your hairstyle, you haven't changed a bit in 14 years! Good luck on your new job. You'll be great at it.
Thanks Shelley. The funny thing about my "hairstyle" changing over the 14 years is that it has restyled itself.
Congratulations, Steve! It sounds like an exciting challenge. I think you will miss reading "Where the Red Fern Grows" to your class the most!
Thanks Stephanie, You're right I will miss reading Red Fern. At least I get to read it to my second grade daughters this coming school year though!
I'm excited with you as you look forward to this new opportunity. I agree, the job is a perfect fit for you. You're certainly highly qualified to be a technology coach, teacher, and leader.
I've seen these pictures many times before, but a few things shocked me as I scrolled over them in your post.
-You wore a tie in 2004!
-My heart sunk a little as I scrolled through the pictures. I guess that shouldn't surprise me. It was the same feeling I get when I say, "good-bye," to certain students before they transition to kindergarten.
-That's right...at one time you did wear pants that were a color other than khaki.
-I remember several names of children from your early years of teaching. I remember lots of faces, but I was pleasantly surprised I could remember a few names.
-I stapled up all those triangles and rectangles in 1995. What was I thinking?
I'm proud of you! I know you will do a great job. I'm sure you'll be missing the classroom at times but a change is good.
